East Coast Kin (Updated)

East Coast Kin is an arts collective, a bunch of online creatives who share a similar mindset. There's no formal membership, we just add you to the list. Anyone can join. Photographers, painters, sculptors, poets, writers… Everyone is welcome.

What does "East Coast Kin" mean or refer to?

It was a playful phrase to describe the synergy between @jaycee-visionlogic.bsky.social and @jacgfxgeek.bsky.social after they rekindled their long lost acquaintance here on Bluesky. Ultimately, it just means "kindred spirits". People with a love of photography, art, design, architecture… Everyone is welcome.

Is it for pro photographers only?

Not at all. All you need is the right attitude. Come to share images, conversations, build friendships and have fun.

What if I’m not a photographer?

You can share whatever art form you create.

What if I don’t create visual stuff, can I still participate?

Of course. Engaging socially (liking, resharing, commenting, encouraging, constructive feedback) is the heart of the Bluesky medium.

Do I really have to be from Eastern Canada or New England?

No. If your heart is in the right place, we’ll accept you as kin.

What do I need to do?

When sharing a post, add the #EastCoastKin hashtag. Engage enthusiastically in any conversations that follow.

What else do I need to do?

Periodically search for #EastCoastKin Follow others who also use the hashtag, reshare things you like, comment, have fun. Make friends.

Are there any rules, guidelines, content restrictions?

Don’t act like a jerk.

Why are you doing this?

For fun.

Can I post someone else’s stuff?

Only reshare other people’s posts. The original creator’s post should always be in the thread (aka giving credit where credit is due).

Do I have to wait for an invitation to join?

No, you can use the hashtag without being on the actual list. Reach out to @jaycee-visionlogic.bsky.socialto be added to the Bluesky list that is hosted on my profile page.
