Allowing users

You can set your feed up to automatically allow specific users.

  • For public feeds: Allowing a user is optional, and automatically approves their post if it would usually come in to your feed as ‘requires approval’.
  • For restricted feeds: Allow a user is required, as only those users that are allowed will be able to appear in the feed. Any user that is not allowed will not appear in the feed.

You can allow users in your feed in two ways, either via a public list in Bluesky or by manually adding them one by one.

If you are on a paid plan, you are able to sync any Bluesky list in to your BSFC account. Once synced, a list can be used in multiple ways, one of which is allowing users in your feed. From your feed dashboard, click Manage allowed users and lists and then Add list:

Once added, you will see the list under “Poster Lists”, where you can then manage what happens when posts are made by people on those lists:

If you are on a free plan, you are only able to add users one at a time. From your feed dashboard, click Manage allowed users and lists and then Add user:

Once added, you will see the user under “Individual Posters”, where you can then manage what happens when that user makes a post:

Once you have allowed either a list of users, or individual users, you are given options about what happens to their posts in your feed:

  • Inclusion terms - Applies to posts only if they match the terms specified by your feed.
  • Unique terms - Applies to posts only if they match the unique terms given in this section. Bypasses your feed’s terms.
  • Any post - Applies to any top level post the user makes, regardless if their post matches your feed or not
  • Any reply - Applies to any reply post the user makes, regardless if their post matches your feed or not
  • Any repost - Applies to any repost the user makes, regardless if that post matches your feed or not

Once a post is matched to one of these sections, you are given the following options:

  • Allow - Used for restricted feeds. Allow this post to come in to the feed.
  • Always approve - Used for restricted or public feeds. When a post comes in a requiring approval, this will automatically remove that flag and allow the post to be seen immediately.
  • Require approval - Adds the requires approval flag to the post, preventing it from being seen in Bluesky until you have approved it.
  • Exclude - Deny the post from entering your feed.
  • Do nothing - 🙃
